A while ago a recommended to my readers to always take the stairs. Over last last year, every time I’d take the stairs from the car park at work up to the entrance of the building I’d feel an inner twinge of happiness for being different, for following a unique path. I was living up to my principles, being the person I wanted to be.
Then a colleague of mine made a new years resolution to improve her health and she decided to take the stairs too. I was walking with her from the building entrance and instead of taking the escalators she walked us into the stairwell. It was turning point (literally and figuratively) for me. The stairwell had been there the whole time but I’d been riding the escalators for the last year.
There are always more stairs to climb. Sometimes it takes others to point them out.
